James Shaw brings more than 25 years of combined law enforcement and municipal code enforcement experience to every inspection and compliance project.

Before founding Be Safe Inspections, James served as Director of Code & Safety for Hempfield Township, where he oversaw property maintenance enforcement, occupancy inspections, and code administration. This firsthand municipal leadership gives him a deep understanding of the exact challenges local governments face today — including limited staff, fragmented tracking systems, and the balancing act of fair yet effective enforcement.

James holds prestigious International Code Council (ICC) certifications as both a Residential Building Inspector and a Property Maintenance Inspector, alongside official Fire Inspector credentials. By pairing this technical expertise with decades of public sector experience, he delivers thorough inspections and practical compliance solutions that protect residents while significantly reducing municipal liability.

Today, he leads Code Compliance by BSI with a steadfast commitment to clear communication, consistent enforcement, and modern technology. He equips municipalities with the tools and expertise needed to manage local codes efficiently, transparently, and effectively.
